May be great news for the EU, but what about the United Kingdom? UK consumer group warned phone users could face unexpected charges when roaming.

With an uncertain future in the hands of the UK government, they will have to add the issue of price restrictions on roaming to the long list hot topics after the UK  leaves the EU.

The European Commission said “eliminating roaming charges is one of greatest and most tangible successes of the EU”. Now, this may be true but what is rarely mentioned is the fact that consumers who exceed data allowances, calls and texts, would still be charged! Consumers must still check with their providers for tariffs and find out exactly what this means for you. It is almost certain that the major network carriers will not let a huge percentage of their revenue (I.E. Roaming Charges) simply disappear. That means this percentage will be made up somewhere else…  coming in the form of increased roaming charges in countries outside of the EU or increased charges for those who exceed their data allowance.
