Security chiefs have warned us that the rise in demand for these devices “leave us wide open to blackmail and fraud”. The term ‘ransomware’ stems from computer programmes that are stealthily installed on a device to gain ‘ransomable’ information.

When it comes to open WiFi networks, unfortunately there’s no real way to make sure your personal details are secure. The biggest threat to security free WiFi is the potential hacker waiting on the other end. By positioning themselves between you and the connection point, you’re sending your information through the hacker who directly intercepts important emails, credit card information and even security credentials to your business network. Also, by leaving your WiFi switched on, whether you are using your phone, tablet or laptop, the device is still transmitting data! Go figure! Don’t ask, just turn off your WiFi connection when you are not using it, it will save you a possible headache and your battery… happy days.
